Guided hiking

Our hiking guides are friendly and well trained, they have a deep passion for the mountain world and hiking through its beauty. It is their desire to share this daily adventure and experience with you, as they guide you to their favourite spots at Durrand Glacier.

Every day the guides decide on a different hike which offers you a large variety of scenery, terrain and of course wild alpine flowers.

The guided tours usually depart from the Durrand Glacier Chalet at 09:00 am. Depending on the length of the hike the groups return back to the Chalet for the well deserved afternoon snacks between 3:00 pm to 3.30 pm.

Self-guided hiking

Although SME is offering daily guided hiking tours at Durrand Glacier, it is up to each guest if they choose to go with the guided groups, or if you prefer to hike self-guided on your own or together with a few friends. The largest benefit of self-guided hiking is that you can move at your very own pace and spend as much time at your favourite spot as you want.

All guests hiking without the hiking guide are asked to inform the SME staff about their hiking plans and when they plan to return to the Chalet. SME asks all hiking guests to be back at the Chalet by 5:00 p.m. at the latest.
